Workshop/Course Description: This workshop will focus on the EIPA assessment. The participants will use their previous diagnostics as well as the overall all rating system to plan an approach to taking the test. Part 2 of the workshop will have a specific focus on the English to PSE as well as the English to ASL product. Participants are asked to have a way to video themselves in order to look at their product and analyze ways to improve.

Educational Objectives: 

·       Identify areas of improvement on the EIPA diagnostics specifically on the English to PSE and English to ASL product.

·       Demonstrate knowledge Deliberate Practice

  • Apply techniques learned during the workshop to previous diagnostics

Media/Materials:  Participants will need a device to record their product. The device must have audio as well as video.

Evaluation & Assessment:

Evaluations will be done by looking giving instant feedback on the participants product as they work.

Also, by allowing the participants to ask questions for any clarification needed.

 Presenter Biography: Sabrina Smith, PhD, has been involved in the interpreting field for over 20 years. She is Nationally certified through RID: CI and CT, as well as NIC Master and Ed: K-12. She works as an educational interpreter and has been interpreting in the school system for over 20 years. She enjoys encouraging interpreters of all levels and mentoring people across the United States. She works as a freelance interpreter, and as a performing arts interpreter for theatre’s and concert venues in her area. She has presented various workshops across the country. She worked as a video relay interpreter with Sorenson Communications for over 14 years.
